Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) is a free update for Windows XP. SP3 includes all previously released Windows XP updates, including security updates, hotfixes, and select out-of-band releases. To install SP3, either Windows XP Service Pack 1a (SP1a) or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) must already be installed. Windows XP SP3 does not include Windows Internet Explorer 7, but Windows XP SP3 does include updates to both Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7, and it will update whichever version is installed on the computer.
Some new released functionalities I really like them, which are IPSec Simple Policy Update, Remote Desktop Protocol 6.1, Wi-Fi Protected Access2 (WPA2), because Wi-Fi security WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) has been Cracked and is no longer safe.
If you are not sure which Windows XP Service Pack version is installed: Right Click My Computer --->Select Properties, click General, will show the version (For instance, the picture below shows it has windows XP has SP 3 installed)

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 -Windows Vista updates are distributed in service packs. Service packs help keep Windows Vista current, and they can extend and update the functionality of your computer.
To install the correct version of the service pack, you must know whether your computer is running the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version of Windows Vista. Additionally, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator.
